Why O Holy Night has every verse
When I told my wife I was going to help David produce a Christmas album, she asked me to include the full version of O Holy Night, reverent and faithful to the original. Too many versions leave out verses, or end on “Noel” instead of singing of Christ's power and glory.
This arrangement follows the 1847 version: John Sullivan Dwight's translation of the French poem by Placide Cappeau, with music by Adolphe Adam.
